Born and raised in Fresno, CA, Taryn began dancing at age 2 and her road to competitive gymnastics at age 4. At the tender age of 7 she was attending adult dance classes and became an undefeated dance soloist at every dance competition and convention she attended. Taryn was just 9 years old when she graced the stage of Ed McMahon’s Star Search talent competition and became the only dance “soloist” to have ever made the show. She stole the heart of judges and audiences alike capturing 7 wins and ultimately taking away the 1993 season title of Junior Dance Grand Champion. She proved to be a true pioneer for her time. Taryn’s unique blend of technical precision, acrobatic skills, and versatile dance flare changed the way dancers trained and were expected to perform. In high demand, everyone from dance studios to Hollywood wanted this pint-sized powerhouse.
At just 16 years old, Taryn opened her own dance studio for the arts. Her love for teaching thrived and she quickly became more recognized for her talents as an award-winning and sought after choreographer. She continued to study dance, choreography, stage, and theatre at CSU, Fresno where she acquired her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre Arts and Dance.
Taryn’s technical abilities and stylization can be credited to her training with some of the industry’s top teachers and choreographers in the country such as Marguerite Derricks, Jackie Sleight, Liz Imperio, Joe Bennett, and Ray Leeper, to name a few. She has been fortunate to have also worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood such as Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul, Bob Hope, MC Hammer, Ed McMahon, Kenny Ortega, and Vince Patterson as well as credits including Disney, ABC, Pepsi, Panasonic, Hawaiian Punch, Glee, and many more. She has performed in numerous iconic venues and has been featured in many stage productions. Her extensive background in all styles of dance including Jazz, Tap, Ballet/Pointe, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Jazz Funk, Latin Styles, Swing, Bollywood, and Hawaiian just add to her innovative choreography and eclectic style. She travels the world teaching, performing, and spreading her passion for dance, most recently touring with the acclaimed Bollywood dance company, Blue13.
When not “Taryn up the dance floor” she dedicates her time to various charities that support dance, the arts, and the youth of her community. Taryn lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their 2 furbabies, Bakin and Blondie.
